April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month #SAAM

Every year in April, advocates, survivors and loved ones, use Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) to push for better laws, change culture, support survivors and prevent sexual violence. Sexual violence is pervasive in the United States and around the world — 1 in 4 women and girls are sexually assaulted at some point in their lives, 1 in 8 boys and men. Targeted are usually those who are most vulnerable — children, youth, those with disabilities, and those from historically oppressed groups, including folks living with HIV. This year’s them is “Embrace Your Voice.” So this month, and every day after, let’s all embrace our voice to speak up, push back, change the statistics and prevent sexual violence!
